I deeply enjoy coming up with WOTshow season structure predictions that will inevitably end up being completely wrong, so behold my rough outline for 8 seasons! I tried my best to think objectively about what’s likely to happen, but there are definitely places where I get carried away by What I Personally Want to happen, so let’s call this a mix of bona fide predictions and a wishlist.
Season 2
- We already know the main structure of this season, so in brief:
- Rand wandering alone, then Daes Dae'mar-ing with Moiraine and Lan
- Perrin hunting the Horn
- Egwene, Nynaeve, Elayne, Mat, Min, Gawyn, and Galad at the Tower
- endpoint: Falme
- romance checkin: early groundwork laid for Egwene/Gawyn; final letting go of Randgwene on Egwene’s side; Rand, Elayne, Aviendha, and Min all meet at Falme
Season 3
- Rand, Mat, Egwene, Aviendha, Moiraine, and Lan go to the Waste, then come out of it to take Tear
- Elayne and Nynaeve travel to Tear to hunt Black Ajah
- Perrin in the Two Rivers
- Min, Siuan, and Gawyn involved in the Tower coup; Galad joins the Whitecloaks
- endpoint: Two Rivers battle; Stone of Tear battle combined with elements of the TFOH Cairhien battle (such as the Shaido and the formation of the Band) and TSR Nynaeve vs. Moghedien Tanchico battle
- romance checkin: Perrin/Faile meet and possibly get together; Rand/Aviendha get together (officially, rather than hooking up and then avoiding each other like in the books); groundwork laid for Rand/Aviendha/Elayne via Rand learning about Aiel polyamory and discussing with Aviendha how pretty Elayne is

i am sick of the “gawyn only used the bloodrings and went after demandred for selfish personal glory” fandom narrative. he swore to sacrifice his life for others’ when he was a TODDLER and has had that mindset his literal entire life. of course he’s going to be dangerously self-sacrificial during the battle for the fate of the world. he has thought of himself as disposable since toddlerhood, of course it doesn’t occur to him that other people might need him to live for them rather than die for them.
gawyn considers it his duty to die for other people just as surely as rand and lan do, values his own life just as little as they do, is just as willing as them to throw his life away and thereby hurt his loved ones. (lan literally does the exact same thing of risking his last-battle-crucial bondholder-wife in a suicide mission against demandred; he shouldn’t be judged differently for this decision than gawyn is just because he happens to survive.) for rand and lan, the fandom recognizes that such behavior stems from a cocktail of self-hate/trauma/childhood conditioning and sympathizes with them for it, and celebrates when they gradually unlearn it. gawyn dies because he’s never given the chance to unlearn it, and all he gets is universal reader hate for being selfish. his entire character is one big walking cry for help from TSR onwards, and no one notices, neither other characters nor readers. he dies feeling that he wasn’t good enough. and i will never stop crying about it!

I appreciate people that loved Rand from the beginning without any book knowledge cause I know quite a few show onlies hated him and it hurt my heart 😭
i know!!! i feel like those are mostly the people who hate on sight any male character who argues with a woman, without using any critical thinking to take into the account the context of the argument lmao but here are some more of my early thoughts on rand as proof that Show-Only Immediate Rand Enjoyers did exist!
